McCain has a horrible record in supporting the vets. I'm surprised he receives so much support from the military.

The average joe/jane doesn't know what his voting record really is. He says he supports Vets and because of his POW experience people assume he does. It's really sad.

That's because most people are voting superficially. Somehow, it started with the Religious Right hijacking the Republican Party and convincing mainstream America that anyone else was going to ruin this nation. Yet, it is THEM, the Neocons, who are destroying us.

That was one of the things during the debate that my wife said went well for McCain - his support for veterans, based on his personal experiences. I told her that this was what most people thought ... assuming that, since he served in the military, came from a military family, and especially since he was a POW, that he was a very strong advocate for veterans issues. BUT, that she, and they, were wrong - that in fact McCain has a rotten record on veterans issues.

It ain't what a person says, it's what that person does or does not do, and in McCain's case, his "support" of veterans is a matter of record ... and it ain't good.
