And WHY shouldn't the lenders, who ALSO made a gamble pay for it?

Ask yourself this...democrats or republicans...four more years to dig us deeper into the hole?

Well said. Anyone who thinks that voting Democrat or Republican will bring about any meaningful, positive change is a moron.
The only candidate in either of the two major parties who offered any real change was Ron Paul. Of course, he's a Libertarian hiding in Republican clothing.
Vote Libertarian!

Maybe we DON'T want four more years of arrogance, incompetence, and lies.
I wonder why?

It might be better than another two years of Pelosi/Reid run cess pool.

If there was PROPER government regulation ... we would never have BEEN in this housing crisis in the first place !!!
There would have been much stricter rules for who could obtain a mortgage.
Republicans constantly push for LESS regulation ... and this is the mess we end up with !!!
Just look at the Savings and Loan debacle from the late 1980's. Remember who was president?
We are right back to where we were then, once again using billions of taxpayer dollars to bail out the markets!

OMG. At that time I worked only a couple of miles from home and I had a small car, a Vega. I would be running short on cash and put $5 of gas in the tank to tide me over a couple/few days until I got paid.
$5 today would give me enough gas to get home from the gas station.
