For not having a dog in this fight, you certainly are generous about offering your opinions, JMarquise.
No, I meant straws as in 'grasping at', as in trying to blame some silly TV shows for hurting a candidate rather than the candidate's own incompetence. My bad, I thought it was a relatively simple connection to make, I guess not

Not having recordings available of a fair number of Presidents I won't speculate.
Good, bad, or ugly there's no doubt 'image' has become an important part of politics. There are many reports that one of LBJ's main reasons for escalation in Vietnam was the fear of appearing weak on Communism, NOT being weak burt appearing weak. I hope he rots in hell for sending people off to die for the sake of appearances.
This week's SNL should be even better, with the Thursday debate in the books and open to spoofing... We'll see Tina Fey, and whomever they pick to play Biden in a brilliant opening sketch. Of course, then the show goes downhill as always... but the beginning sketches are still relatively good. The Obama primary debate spoofs were really good.

I wish they would bring back Eddie Murphy to do Obama - I loved him on SNL and I can easily imagine him playing the part. And maybe Chris Rock to play Michelle since every body always talking about how angry and masculine she looks.

What makes it even funnier is that they used actual quotes from her interview with Katie! Makes one think that McCain has really poor judgement..... (Remembe the Lincoln Savings and Loan which led to the Keating Five political scandal?)
How about Michael Milken the Junk bond King?
ANd now the WaMu CEO is walking away with 13 million PLUS a 6 million dollar sign on bonus.
All I have to say is that this weeks Presidential Debate will be interesting.. BIden would wipe the floor with her.
However, the fact that McCain is trying to control the debate is horrible.. I hope that the moderator ignores it and does his job.. and get the candidates to show their stuff..
You know, Eddie Murphy does a good job playing Gwen Ifill, too. Wouldn't it be great to see him this week?
