First and foremost, they plan to blame the media not their own ideology nor their stances on the issues.

http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwa...ion/index.html

"It's pretty clear that [Instapundit] and the drooling Malkinites in wingnutland are getting ready to blame the corporate media when Obama wins.

The problem with this narrative is that:

a) the GOP has dominated national electoral politics for a decade, in spite of said "liberal media" conspiring to elect Democrats, and;

b) the wingnut bloggers themselves spend lots of time and energy obsessing over the idea that the mainstream media has an ever-diminishing influence/relevance (how many posts has [Instapundit] done this year of the New York Times stock price/circulation figures?)

I'm not sure how they square all of this in their little brains exactly, but it makes my head hurt."

Republican victimology. It will be studied for years. Both by sociologists (to figure out how things got so screwed up that we elected Bush) and by future Rovians (to figure out how to get unqualified GOP candidates elected).

I doubt it will be a "humiliating defeat." Let's not get carried away.

Yes it will. As close as Bush and Gore were, it was still humiliating for Gore. As the numbers start to turn toward Obama, I bet he will easily win. It's a good thing, really. Palin belongs in Alaska with her family and constituents. Washington is no place for a rookie like her.

I doubt very much if there will be a humiliating defeat for either of the two candidates. It's a bit like taking an exam and being given a list of questions to swat up on. If Palin does not do well then it will be unbelievable that this woman is anywhere near the VP spot.
