Default SaraTodd Doesn't Realize That.....

...we are all NOT "hockey moms" and "Joe Six-Pack !!!!!!!!!

Will this incredibly arrogant air head ever realize that the United States is made up of all different kinds of people?????

There ARE women who are NOT MOMS!!!!!!

There are women who never had children and come home after work and have a bourbon on the rocks.

There ARE DADS in this country...some may even go to a hockey game or soccer match!!!

There are males who don't slug back a six-pack of beer every 10 minutes...

There are men and women who don't drink at all

She has such a condescending attitude about who constitutes AMERICA!

She assumes we're all a bunch of mindless breeders who drink copiously and only drink beer! I've never seen a politician who so OPENLY has their nose so far up in the air!
And of all the politicians! A mindless babbling idiot!!! Looking down on OTHERS!!?????
Is that all SHE does? Have babies and drink???

I had a similar discussion with my hubby earlier tonight. Does Palin realize that the entire consortium of hockey moms in this country actually comprises a very tiny percentage of the general population? Sources I found cited that there are approximately 347,000 youth hockey players in this country. Since we can presume that many of those players have multiple players in their households, the number of actual hockey moms is much smaller than 347k, or less than 0.1% of the general population. So, when she continually spouts off about "hackey moms," she's really not speaking to a very large number of voters. Kinda dumb strategy, if you ask me...

I also agree about the "moms" (in general) and "Joe Six Pack" remarks. I'm an adult female who is neither a mom or a frequent beer drinker. I don't hunt, and I do not tend to use such goofy colloquialisms as "you betcha" or "doggonit." I'm also not in the habit of winking and flirting my way to the top. Seems as though she has nothing to say to me...?

Well yall are just elitists then! hehe

She's trying hard to identify with rural voters and to families with children. I guess she believes that is the majority of the population or that she can fill a niche and attract these voters. I dunno, its been known to work.

Funny though that a man with 7 houses calls a man with one an elitist..

I know what you're saying....I really disliked her "Cutesy" phrases, guess the media is calling them "folksy."

What really got me though was when the question was asked about legal rights for same-sex couples. She didn't even answer that (I guess she's against?) but jumped right into no way would she support gay marriage, yadda yadda...the she said she tolerates and is tolerant of relationships that are not between one man and one woman. She said some version of tolerate so many times that I was shocked. Who is she to tolerate?

In Alaska, she backed rights for gays - including insurance for gay partners. So her record shows that she may disagree w/ something personally but upholds the constitution and rule of law. I think that is what she was trying to convey when she talked about "tolerance."

As to "Joe Six Pack" and "Hockey/Soccer Moms" . . . it appears to me she is trying to say - "No one gives a voice to the average blue collar worker in this country." I don't think anyone does give voice to that group. I think Hillary Clinton may have done this better than most of her contemporaries, just as Bill Clinton did.

However, I didn't hear either Palin or Biden trying to give voice to the elderly in this country, who make up a large voting group.

My DH and I do not belong to the "Joe Six Pack" or "Hockey/Soccer Mom" group . . . but we did realize she was trying to reach out to them and we were not insulted. I was surprised that neither candidate made much of an attempt to reach the AARP group, tho.

Do I think this phrase - "Joe Six Pack" is cliche? Yes. Sure would not say it myself, if I were a candidate.

Thanks for that info. She wasn't very effective making her point known then, and the number of times she said "tolerate" really rubbed me the wrong way!

I don't think any national candidate should use such informal language...it kept her from sounding credible.

I think the MSM has used a "pick and choose" method for portraying Palin's record so I did some research and actually found a discussion on YouTube w/ the subject of rights for same sex partners. It surprised me that no one has revealed this - as it is out there. I was also relieved to see she would follow the rule of law and support equal protection under the law for same sex partners, as this concerns me. Regardless of how a person feels about homosexuality, everyone deserves to be treated fairly in this country.

But her informal language kinda grates on me, too. I am not into folksy in the sense of the same old phrases over and over. It seems forced and a fall-back. As I said earlier - Bill and Hillary Clinton have a way of talking to blue collar workers - "salt of the earth" moms and dads . . . that is not cliched. I saw what Palin was trying to do and I do believe she is more like that group than not . . . her DH is a Union Worker. But somehow, we do expect a level of "dignity" and "decorum" - and perhaps - even more formal language - from our leaders in this country. Bill Clinton can come across as very warm and understanding; it is an art and he is great at it. Palin should have studied his style and learned from him. "Folksy" tag words are NOT what that style is all about. Crazy thing - I didn't vote for Bill Clinton and was not in agreement w/ a lot of his policies but I LIKE THE GUY, LOL!!!!
