Biden is much more skillful at not answering the question than Palin. Biden would never have come out like Palin did, and say I'm not answering that, I wan't to talk about this.
In a debate you need to segue off topic gradually. It's a skill that Palin lacks.
It's something Obama lacked at the beginning but he's been polished.
Palin was picked too late in the game

I would have preferred a CSPAN call-in format over what I saw last night. Not only was it a series of softballs lobbed underhand, there was no follow up at all.
Each candidate, 8 hours sitting behind a desk with a moderator answering questions from the general public for half and the other half questions from the press, pundits, fellow lawmakers.

You mean a real job interview? I thought interviews were only for important positions.
OTOH, Joe 6-pack probably would not care to listen even for 2 hours (assuming s/he understands the issues in detail) - and that is a part of the problem we have.
Isn't Palin coming out and saying she wasn't going to answer the questions like the moderator wanted her to kinda like George Bush doing whatever he wants? Same ole, same ole.
They both did it but at least when Biden did it he filled his time with facts and issues, not mindless folksy verbal diarrhea and the same old tired talking points.

? Both vice presidential nominees were announced at the same time - there was probably an overlap of only a few days.
SP had notes at her desk and looked at them for every topic that came up. She's had a month to prepare, and she had a team of trainers.
