Default It's the economy stupid!!!

The race is really heating up now - getting more and more negative - at least from the right (IMHO).

I think that the economy is by far the top issue that voters will be focused on in November.

And that bodes very poorly for Republicans.

People are rightly scared about their economic futures.

- So many jobs have been and are being outsourced that it is even now hitting the service sector, not just manufacturing any more. Seems like anyone who works at a computer or on an assembly line is seriously at-risk.

- The stock market has been all down-hill for the past year - 401Ks are becoming 201ks - scaring a lot of people about their ability to retire

- Housing continues to tank, prices are still dropping, and people see their nest-egg shrinking. Housing bubbles take years - 5 or more - to unwind. We're only into year 2.

- Unemployment is up to 6.1%, and we've lost 3/4 of a million jobs so far this year

- People are really mad about all the Bailouts of the past 2 months... it seems that the big companies (and their filthy rich CEOs) are taken care of but no one lifts a finger to help the millions facing foreclosure

- The national budget is in shambles!!! With the bailouts - the fiscal deficit this year may approach $1 TRILLION , the national debt $11.3 TRILLION, the trade deficit $500 Billion.

- Prices of necessities are thru the roof... Gas still near $4/gallon (at least around me), Heating Oil and Natural gas sky high (just wait until people in the north get their heating bills this year!!), food much more expensive than a year ago..

All in all - people are scared about the economy. I personally think we're almost at a low point for the stock market - but the economy itself will continue to shed jobs and be in recession for another quarter or two...

What do you think - is the economy issue number one this year?

If not, what do you think is?

the economy is the number 1 issue every year. our national debt is more of a threat to our national security than some terrorism paranoia.

Thank the Democrats for this financial crisis. The Republicans warned about it in 2004 and the Democrats shot them down. See for yourself:

Your posting has been discredited several times already - don't you know better than to beat a dead-horse.

Or is this an example of 'Proof by Repeated Assertion'???

i think the economy is the big issue and since both the republicans and the democrats voted for the bailout bill it is probably a wash. after seeing what our government has done to the working man / woman, some people are going to vote for smaller government, i would think, and some people will just blame each other's parties and vote the way that they had originally intended to vote.

Sorry, but you cannot deny video taped proof. It is fact, it is real and it is what the Democrat Party stands for. Deal with it.

The Republicans held hearings on it to bring the truth to light. The angry, hate filled and controlling Democrats guaranteed there was no problem about to happen. They tried to paint the Republicans as anti poor and just wanting to take their homes away. Typical scare tactics used by the controlling left. The Democrats game plan is and has always been to make people dependent on help from the government. Rather than make them independent, they want to control people by keeping them down and dependent. It seems to be a great game plan for them.

I think getting us out of Iraq which I don't believe has helped national security or the economy has become almost a non-issue which is a shame, there's STILL Americans in harm's way 24/7.

I don't believe Bush and his defender McCain shiuld get a pass on pursuing a war of choice.
