Not one iota of smugness or glee. I absolutely do not want another attack. I was just wondering if McCain supporters felt the same way if it would benefit their candidate.

Well, I see how the OP might have opened him up to abuse and I don't think, generally, that most McCain supporters want that.
However, I believe there are a few, that are radical like Palin and Hannity that would not cry too many tears since they think that would give McCain the election.
Also, in a way, something like this was tried in July with the Georgia/Russia conflict. Do some work folks and research the connections that many of McCain's advisors and posse have with the Georgian government, who started that conflict in July, thinking that McBush would have their backs. McCain trumped his cold war cred big time right after that and it seemed too fishy.

I really doubt that McCain campaign is hoping for a terrorist attack....as he is too befuddled and confused now to capitalize on it.....he might do something like "suspending" his campaign and then when he gets to Washington in a day or two....pretty much forgetting why he's there.
I do think the Palin campaign fully expects and counts on McCain dying shortly after inaugeration...she clearly thinks she is prepared and will be POTUS.

Also, in truth, I cannot imagine anyone who loves this country wanting to see another attack, and I do believe that though he should never be President, McCain does love this country.

I agree with you about McCain. I’m not so sure about Palin. Religious fanatics scare the hell out of me. She will see the hand of God in it. Besides she is insanely ambitious and nothing would be too terrible for her to get what she wants. And she wants to be a president.

Hmm, could this be something like how the Democrats cheered for the past several years when things got tough in Iraq, because they viewed it as support for their party and agendas?
Nobody is hoping for another attack. But, we all know who will handle it better if there is one. And, without a doubt, eventually there will be one. All the intelligence agencies tell us so.
The key difference here?
McCain will seek them out and destroy them.
Obama will want to sit down and chat with them. Or who knows, given his past and present associations, he might even wish to join them!
