Not sure many of you really know about the scandal from your comments. There was a reason why he was censured and what he said at the time. You will be familiar soon.

Skeleton Closet - John McCain, The Dark Side (http://www.realchange.org/mccain.htm - broken link)
Though he was not convicted of anything, McCain intervened on behalf of Charles Keating after Keating gave McCain at least $112,00 in contributions. In the mid-1980s, McCain made at least 9 trips on Keating's airplanes, and 3 of those were to Keating's luxurious retreat in the Bahamas. McCain's wife and father-in-law also were the largest investors (at $350,000) in a Keating shopping center; the Phoenix New Times called it a "sweetheart deal."

Mafia ties:
In 1995, McCain sent birthday regards, and regrets for not attending, to Joseph "Joe Bananas" Bonano, the head of the New York Bonano crime family, who had retired to Arizona. Another politician to send regrets was Governor Fife Symington, who has since been kicked out of office and convicted of 7 felonies relating to fraud and extortion

Bots a good link for future use

As with all things the undecided voter will have to decide for themselves as they contemplate the current Wall Street Bailout. Sorta like the Savings and Loan bailout of a few years ago. Of course McCain had nothing to do with that

To be accurate, understand that McCain was not censured; he was reprimanded for "poor judgment." For McCain, Self-Confidence on Ethics Poses Its Own Risk

Quote:
When Lincoln went bankrupt in 1989 — one of the biggest collapses of the savings and loan crisis, costing taxpayers $3.4 billion — the Keating Five became infamous. The scandal sent Mr. Keating to prison and ended the careers of three senators, who were rebuked by the Senate Ethics Committee in 1991 for intervening. Mr. McCain, who had been a less aggressive advocate for Mr. Keating than the others, was reprimanded only for “poor judgment” and was re-elected the next year.
Some people involved think Mr. McCain got off too lightly. . .

Mr. McCain has since described the episode as a unique humiliation. “If I do not repress the memory, its recollection still provokes a vague but real feeling that I had lost something very important,” he wrote in his memoir. “I still wince thinking about it.”
Censure by the senate has a specific meaning. Here's a link that includes all senate censures:

His son resigned from a bank just a couple months ago right before it collapsed. Like father like son.

Story over.

Now why would Obama go to being so low to do this when he knows McCain was cleared of any wrong doing.

Or is he grasping fro straws and will lie in this waste of money?
Maybe because he is PISSED? The McCain campaign has brought this on themselves. THEY are the "low" factor in this election. Did they SERIOUSLY think that they could go around PUBLICLY calling Obama a TERRORIST??? The McCain campaign knows very well that Obama has no real connection to Ayers, and now they're going to pay for it.

I was wondering when the Dems were going to say, 'OK bring it on!' Obama has a lot more character than McCain but enough is enough!!

I want to see videos about Troopergate, Librarygate, the Bridge to NoWhere, the Road to NoWhere, the debt Wasilla was left in after Palin was in office, Palin's shady tax returns, Chavez' oil heating the homes of Natives in Alaska where Palin would let them freeze, and how about all those videos where the Vets Against McCain speak candidly about the so-called hero. His only act of heroism according to his fellow POWs was surviving his POW years but then according to the Vets who know, maybe the 30 odd videos he made for the North Vietnamese made his stay a little better than his fellow Americans.

Geeze, there's so much scat in the GOP they need front loaders to get past all the back dumping.
