GW was a No Party, Adams a Federalist and until Andrew Jackson, they were all Democrat/Republicans. They would be sickened by what is going on today.
I agree they would be sickened.
All this special interest money in Washington, etc would be such a shock to them that if they could go back in time and remain part of England they would.
The gvmt they set up which was brilliant is now a fraction of what America once had.
I got out the old Ouija board and had a talk with the founding fathers. They unanimously said they would vote third party...and that my lost pocket knife was under the passenger seat of my truck. I found the knife under the seat of the truck so since they were right about that, they are probably right about voting third party.
I can't believe that there are 18 people foolish enough to believe that the founding fathers would vote for obama. guess we have some real historians in these forums.

If by ouija board, you mean the Federalist Papers, their own writings, the US Constitution, and a ton of information out there regarding what they thought not just about political parties, but central banks and other issues...then ok.
you think that the man who said, "democracy is nothing but mob rule, where 51% of people take away the rights of the other 49%", would be a democrat? now THAT my friend is funny.

Benjamin Franklin and John Adams were undoubtedly liberal, I'm thinking George Washington was rather conservative. Thomas Jefferson was very liberal for his time, a revolutionary who hated monarchs and organized religion, though I'm thinking he would be more libertarian today, or possibly a moderate Democrat.
I think the Founding Fathers would wonder why a slave was running for president. Not all of their ideals translate to modern America.
I guess you're operating under the misconception that all blacks in the US were slaves. Probably didn't know that the first legal slave owner in the colonies was a black man himself, right?
Their ideals translate perfectly into today. They knew the shortcomings of their implementation, but knew that it was the only way to unify the nation. We can argue all day the colonies should have formed separate unions and what the outcome may have been... but it would all be speculation at this point. But their wisdom about our currency, our rights, and how a national government corrupts the system ring just as true today as they did in 1789.
People glorify the founding fathers. But they were just human. And they couldn't predict the future.
