Well I will play along with you're mock shock & incredulity. One only needs to examine the McCain campaign before and after Sarah Palin was picked and see that she energizes the Republican base much more than McCain himself!

To republicans it is nothing more than a football game, it is why I left the party 8 years ago.

Sarah Palin is nothing but a play in a playbook.

Sorry, silas777, I wasn't implying that you were making that choice as well, but I see that in fact, you are...nevermind then...

As far as what happened to McCain's suposed newly "energized" Republican base, the only explaination I can offer is the quote below...and that energy is clearly weakening...well stated, Metlakatla!

I have no clue why she was picked. I think she may be fine as Gov of Alaska but dear me . . . w/ all the fine choices . . . even if I am not totally in line politically w/ their views . . . we had Romney, Huckabee, Blount (MO) . . . and let's see, who else . . . Jindal (Gov. LA) . . . I thought Jindal would have been a super choice.

So true, to me she feels more real than anybody running including McCain.

I think Boehner would have been a good choice . . .for the more conservative, there was Brownback (KS) . . . surely others can add to this list of "anybody but Palin for VP."
