I have to disagree. Under Barack Obama's plan YOUR taxes will not go up, unless you make more than $250,000. I don't.
I am an independent, but I have very Liberal views, yet I have NEVER taken from the system. My husband and I have worked very hard. I too have gotten through three degrees without help, working numerous jobs. In fact even though I don't have to, I am now an adjunct professor so I can earn just a little more for retirement. My mother collects social security, and Medicare.

Our deficit has never been so high, and this is under a Republician WH, and up until two years ago a Rep. Congress. They say Democrats are TAX AND SPEND, but that has been what GWB has done, and John McCain's plan is the same. Look at what this NEEDLESS war is costing us. Not only lives but billions of dollars. We cannot continue to spiral out of control like this. I am all for those that make outrageous sums of money to pay a little more into the system. GWB has made it easy on his friends to profit.

Have you ever noticed that most wealthy Republicans (I said most) have gotten their fortunes through FAMILY money, yet most wealthy Democrats have earned their wealth? Why is that? Is it because they realize what it is like to NOT have prosperity?

As an independent there is no other way for me to vote right now. I like Ron Paul, but I am in a critical state, so that is one vote I cannot cast.

I have NO idea what your response hast to do with the quote you made.
But regarding your response (on another issue), we sound VERY similar.

Where we differ is that it sounds like you are a proud capitalist UNTIL someone pops through a 'magic number', after which they are evil profiteers. That is class envy. I do not make Obama's magic $250K either, but if Obama ends up being a Carter 2.0, then I will have to scale back my operations, and lay off people. Fact.

I do agree! I am no friend of President Bush.
I simply desire the least government and least taxes possible and am extremely disappointed in our two choices. BUT, I will take the liberal (his voting record, not my label) McCain against a socialist (his words, not my label) Obama, any day. At the same time, no matter what Obama/Biden tell you now, we are not leaving the Middle East any time soon. Save this post and see if I am right.
The sad fact is that until we (USA) can secure our future energy needs, we will not be returning home. Our entire economy depends on energy. And trust me, I hate to have to write this, but otherwise, without relatively cheap and abundant energy we are weeks away from being a third world country.

I would appreciate if you can name the family fortunes that fit your stereotype which survive and are active in this day.
Please note, that I am not being sarcastic.
I just always felt the opposite is true: the people that inherit money are liberal and those that earn money are conservative.

Many of my college buddies were liberal activist, yet once they got out in the real world and made a few dollars, all that changed.

CNNMoney.com Market Report - Oct. 9, 2008

Any guesses as to when the DOW hits 6000? 5000?
I have heard several theories that investors are selling stock because they fear an Obama win, which will mean capital gains taxes go up. If Obama wins we may see a huge crash in the stock market like we haven't seen so far.

Honestly, I would be neither mad, nor happy, nor would I leave the country. Despite who gets elected, I will support them and hope that they will do what is in the best interest for our country.

Total load of BS! I remember Republicans blaming Gore in Fall, 2000 for the stock market going down. "OH. If Gore would just give up and step aside, the Market will go back up!" So when Bush finally did steal the election, the market went sky high! Oh, wait. No, it kept going down.

The Stock Market statistically performs better under a Dem. president, doncha know.

Because 8 years of Republican rule have brought us Peace, Prosperity, and Security? Having a moron Republican in charge didn't work out so well for us. Why would we try that model again?
