By "top" economists, you are referring to the CEO's of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, right? The ones who said there is nothing wrong with their firms? I guess "top" is a subjective term.

You're asking a liberal to read. This is not necessary as they already know everything.

European countries have socialized health care and services; the Socialist and Communist countries provide medical care and education for their people, too. When my friends in Britain told me their daughter was attending OXFORD for the equivalent of about $10,000 per year, I just about croaked. My kid's bill to attend a good state university (heh, nowhere close to the quality of Oxford) is about $17,000.

Either we have to implement socialized medicine OR we have to take the responsibility for insuring workers off the back of business. McCain's proposal moves toward the latter. Obama's wishy-washy proposal won't accomplish much. Plus, our education system needs a total overhaul but none of the politicians have a clue or the desire to do what needs to be done.
I have to agree with you on some points. It is our government's responsibility to provide healthcare and education for all of its citizens and neither candidate really has a good plan for that. Tax deductions to pay for healthcare isn't going to help the working poor. Im sorry, but its even worse than obamas plan.

I still don't understand how an average american would want McCain in the white house.

Would you mind telling me where exactly it is in the Constitution where it says that the government has the responsibility to provide healthcare to the citizens of this country? Thanks and I will be waiting.

The same place it says we have a right to detain people indefinately with due-process (yet another thing I dislike about the neocons).

Healthcare and Education are the fundamentals of life and necessary for our pursuit of hapiness. Plus, as some other posters pointed out, it helps us become more competetive in the global market place.
