As for clearing the threshhold--well, I think Obama's 99.9% over it. He'll be completely over the threshhold after Wednesday's debate. I know debates don't usually influence voters, but it's the very last stand for McCain (in what has been a series of last stands). If Obama is declared the winner of the debate, IMO that threshhold has been indisputably crossed.
I must say I'm looking forward to Wednesday night.

So am I. The litmus and events leading to the final debate clearly appears to have shifted all of the weight on Senator McCain. Governor Palin's abuse of power, her incinerating campaigning, as well as the mood of Senator McCain's supporters at the rally's pushes the onus on him via his supporters, to strike as much negativity into the debate as possible in order to appear tough.
Unfortunately the broad spectrum of the Electorate has outright rejected anything that does not directly address their Economic concerns. How he will manage this when Senator Obama has already cleared the hurdle of a compassionate, tough and knowledgeable alternative will be interesting. The anticipation is not on Senator Obama's response but on Senator McCain's attack. Odd how this has worked out, Senator Obama is already expected to be able to meet the challenge, and by calling for the fight since the Democratic Convention, appears to be the veteran waiting for the Challenger. Who knew?
