President Obama- The Elite One!
Once again we have to hear the Republicans- especially the Palin worshippers- talk about how "elite" President Obama is and how he is "not like us" and not really "one of us".
Aside from the fact that this is total bullcrap for the most part and the fact that their own front man does not even how how many houses or cars him and his billionaire wife own, it is simply wrong.
If you describe "elite" as one who was born weathly and looks down on the common man, you could certainly not be describing Obama. Obama is a man who was not born into weath and has earned his way to where he is now. He has overcome more disadvantage than any other candidate in recent history including The Idiot (W) that is "one of us" if you believe the cons.
If however you describe "elite" as one who is refined, educated and speaks with good English with a command of the issues, I want an elite leader! I do not want a leader who is "one of us". That is the big problem with Palin. She likes to say her and the "first dude" are like we are but the fact is that I do not want her steering the ship. There is a reason a ship has a captain and it has boiler operators.
I want a leader that has the smarts and ability to steer the country through the storms of terrorism, economic troubles and the other issues we face without running us into an iceberg. I do not need my "captain" to come down and drink a beer with us in the boiler room!
I could care less if Obama knows how to BBQ, drinks Bud Lite or knows what those "3" and "8" stickers on the backs of pickup trucks mean. I am not voting for somebody I want to have a beer with. I have friends for that. I am voting for somebody that has the intelligence and where with all to lead the country through the storms we face and into hopefully calmer waters.

To be completely honest, I would love to have a few drinks with President Clinton, but would not trust him within 25 yards of my wife and daughters.
Seriously though, it is perfectly fine to respect the person and disagree on their opinions/views.
I respect Senator Obama as a person, but he believes in collectivism and socialism and I do not.
Furthermore, I do not approve of a few of his known associates.

If that is the case, then you should not be voting for Obama.

Is it a driver's number, a track? I don't know anything about NASCAR. Is it like Formula 1?

Before the dumbing down and coarsening of America, elite used to actually have good connotations.
Jon Stewart had some good stuff to say about elitism and a presidential candidate.
"If you don't actually think you're better than us, than what the *&^% are you doing?!"
"I want someone who is *embarrassingly* superior to me."
The best stuff begins at about 7:00 (http://www.indecision2008.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=166074 - broken link)

Superior in what way? The Ivy League educated 'elite' in government and Wall Street have driven us off a cliff.
