Some people dont want a President who is seen as an Intellectual? I wonder why? Why do people think they want someone that is just like them? Why not support for someone who may be smarter than themselves? My guess is fear. They fear being taken out of their comfort zone. At the same time, how many people shoot animals from helicopters?
I'd say there's a difference between being highly educated and being smart - they don't necessarily go hand in hand. For example, our current President, if one goes by college diplomas, is highly educated. And dumb as a box of rocks.
Obama is highly educated, and also smart. It will be nice, and good for the country, to once again have a smart person in the Oval Office.

The majority, though not all, of Republicans are uneducated so naturally they fear intellectuals.
Majoring in philosophy or art doesn't make one an intellectual. Most criminals are democrats. Democrat party is comprised of poor people. Republicans are known for upper-middle to upper class. I'd say republicans have the monopoly on intelligence in this country.
