It is very odd that they don't seem to vet anyone - it's almost like they just pull names out of a hat and hope for the best.

However it looks like the voters in battleground states are seeing through the McScam campaign.

McCain: Ayers will come up in debate - Andy Barr - Politico.com
John McCain said Tuesday that Barack Obama is “probably ensured” that his association with 1960s radical William Ayers will come up in Wednesday’s debate.

“I was astonished to hear him say that he was surprised that I didn’t have the guts” to bring up Ayers, McCain said on KMOX, a St. Louis radio station.

“I think he is probably ensured that it will come up this time.”

Wonder if he still will. If he does it gives Obama the opening. Who knows how many McCain smear web sites he has ready to be up and running Thursday.

If he does he will have to answer to this about AYERS:

Republicans Who Fund Bill Ayers

I think Obama's relatively weak but nonetheless real interactions with William Ayers are a legitimate campaign issue. But Obama's best response, after telling the facts of the relationship, is to point out who else supported him. Republican machers Walter and Leonora Annenberg gave the former terrorist $50 million. They also gave money to Rick Santorum, Strom Thurmond and Mitt Romney. Annenberg was Nixon's ambassador to Britain. If Obama is "palling around with terrorists," the Republican Annenbergs are funding them.

Yesterday, the McCain campain put out a press release boasting that Leonore Annenberg had just endorsed him for president. Why is McCain happy to accept the endorsement of a funder of terrorism?

source: The Daily Dish | By Andrew Sullivan (October 14, 2008) - Republicans Who Fund Bill Ayers

this from the Conservative columnist Andrew Sullivan no less. The Annenberg Foundation is the place where Obama met Ayers and both sat on their board.

I am certain McCain is pulling things but I don't think a hat is the source.

What was that McCain bragged about at the debate last week?

Oh, yeah...

"I've been in Washington 26 years. I know people!"
