Some back-of-envelope calculations for a business that nets $250k a year. Assume 10% net - which means, revenues will be $2.5 million. Typical company purchase price is 2-3 times revenue, so Joe 6-pack needs $5 to 7.5 million to buy a company. I think Joe is dreaming and Obama is not the reason Joe cannot buy the business. This is all BS.

Go McCain/Palin for a real safe change!

I pity your ignorance. Now if you want to go there about "terrorist." Then we can go there. Why is McCain boosting that he knows how to catch Osama Bin Linden but he is unwilling to tell anyone. Now, please explain to me how many years has Osama been on the top ten FBI most wanted list and how many years has McCain been in the Senate? Why hasn't he disclosed his idea if he knows how to catch him? Is he harboring terrorist? Could 9/11 been avoided in 2001 if McCain won in 2000? How is McCain putting country first by doing this? Sounds selfish. Please explain that me, "Joe Six Pack?"

Does it really matter if people can "relate" to Joe the Plumber? That should not have an effect on one's voting decision. I relate to a lot of people doesn't mean that I think they should represent our country.

He struck a chord with conservatives who are grasping at straws right now.

Well these are the same people who have stripped every last layer of competition out of our schools. Even when the kids are playing games or participating in sports, nobody has to lose anymore. What kind of people does that send out into the real world?

I'll quote a liberal I actually had a great deal of respect for, George Carlin:

"You know what they tell the kid who lost these days? 'You were the last winner.'"

Joe Biden went on national TV to attack Joe the plumber, an average working American citizen. HOW PATHETIC! Joe the plumber seems to understand the economics of running a small business better than Obama and Biden and he is EXPOSING exactly what Obama's tax plan would mean for him and other small businesses. This is going to RESONATE with average American citizens, as well it should. People who are not able to read between the lines of Obama's eloquent talk WILL understand Joe the plumber when he explains in average citizen terms what Obama is really doing. MORE POWER TO JOE THE PLUMBER! GET THE MESSAGE OUT, DUDE!

We "all" need plumbers. How much inventory do you think they need? they have to keep it somewhere, they have liability insurance they have to carry so if any damage occurs at a site.
Come on people this hits home with all of us. The American dream is to be able to have our own business and have it thrive and grow.
Not to be capped and limited!

It unfortunately does not hit home to a blinded agenda-driven socialist. They hope upon hope (that word "hope" again) that they will somehow be seen as "special" by Big Tit Guvment; or else can become eligible for the dole, so as to not to have to work hard like the rest of us suckers out here. To think otherwise, and to be for a socialist society is even sicker than the above two options. Oh, I forgot, we need to "help" humanity and oh, how humane it all is! Bullcr*p....socialism is another term for "me first".

He struck a cord with the American dream. People who have ambition and the want to do better than their parents were able to.

What are you talking about?

The hard workers I know don't relate at all to McCain. It's not that he isn't a hard worker, it's just that Obama's tax, healthcare, education, and energy policies are so superior to McCain's that you pretty much have to ignore all the facts and fall for all the Karl Rove-ian tactics being employed by today's right-wing to believe otherwise.

If you're a wealthy business owner and truly believe that Obama's plan is going to increase your taxes and that is the reason why you won't support him you need to a) really read up on his plan before casting such judgement on it and b) realize there's much greater issues at stake, being a single-issue voter this election is just a huge mistake.

McCain's plan to get the country out of its economic crisis is based upon the policies and strategists that Bush has followed. McCain has little knowledge of economics (self acknowledged) and truly is out of his league in this space; he's simply representing the Republican party line on the topic. The party line which got us into this mess. Regarding healthcare, McCain's plan has already been analyzed to death by experts in the field, and indeed it won't work. Read up on it if you don't feel you understand it. The reality is that it could lead to the unraveling of the healthcare industry... Obama with advisors such as Clinton by his side actually have a decent plan to change the industry (which they've given thought to for over a decade). Perhaps you don't need health insurance because you're wealthy... well consider that your employees are not and indeed need it. Have a heart, healthcare reform is needed by those of us who actually use it.

Given the choice between just McCain and Obama the choice is blatently obvious. Most people do not identify with McCain or his plant, Joe the Plumber (if they did the polls would reflect that fact right?). Joe the Plumber's story has many holes in it. For instance how can he afford to buy a business which nets 250k per year?, if he's never worked for himself what is his real understanding of Obama's plans on small businesses?, why should anyone care about his political stance, what credibility or background does he have which lends national credibility to him?

Reverse it to see what people think happens in trickle down economics.

Wages stagnant? At least they have jobs. Would you rather 10% unemployment so your wages don't stagnate?

Please tell me any CEO's that have given "themselves" billions. Do you know how boards and cooperation's work?
You actually think trickle down economics is working? You and McCain who still thinks the economy is fundamentally sound. Some graph that you pulled out of God knows where does not negate what is common sense to most of us. Trickle down economics is making the rich richer and the middle class poorer. That is a miserable failure in my opinion and, thankfully, the majority share my views.

Look at the car industry, for example. Why is it that so many in manufacturing and sales are losing their jobs by the thousands? It's simple. Because the middle class doesn't have any money to buy any new cars. Why are Home Depots closing all over the country? Because middle class people don't have any money for home improvement, if they still have a home at all. More jobs will be lost if we continue down the path we have been going.

As far as how the CEO's I mentioned in my previous post walked away with millions? I really do not know. But I sure do know that it is criminal that they did. That is the real issue.
