I thought Joe approached Obama at a rally or planned campaign stop. It's not too hard to follow these things.

Why is Joe the Plumber not at work? How does he have so much time on his hands?

Oh, he is probably out of work because of the GOP run economics.

I think the 2-5% figure is about what I've heard too. It doesn't sound like a big deal at all.
I have also heard that "big oil" pays whopping taxes that boggle the mind. but, when one is making literally billions of dollars in profits, and making record profits, I think it's fair that they pay the fair share.
I can't see taxing the little guy more than he's already paying. the government should realize the small businesses are the backbone of this country, and, consequently, give 'em a break.

Just google search socialism and read about it before commenting any more on the topic.

Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating state or collective ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and the creation of an egalitarian society.[1][2] Modern socialism originated in the late nineteenth-century working class political movement. Karl Marx posited that socialism would be achieved via class struggle and a proletarian revolution which represents the transitional stage between capitalism and communism.[3][4]
Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism by nature concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital, and creates an unequal society. All socialists advocate the creation of an egalitarian society, in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly, although there is considerable disagreement among socialists over how, and to what extent this could be achieved.[1]
Socialism is not a discrete philosophy of fixed doctrine and program; its branches advocate a degree of social interventionism and economic rationalization, sometimes opposing each other. Another dividing feature of the socialist movement is the split on how a socialist economy should be established between the reformists and the revolutionaries. Some socialists advocate complete nationalization of the means of production, distribution, and exchange; while others advocate state control of capital within the framework of a market economy. Social democrats propose selective mixed economies combined with tax-funded welfare programs; nationalization of key national industries in Libertarian socialism (which includes Socialist Anarchism and Libertarian Marxism) rejects state control and ownership of the economy altogether and advocates direct collective ownership of the means of production via co-operative workers' councils and workplace democracy.
In the 1970s and the 1980s, Yugoslavian, Hungarian, Polish and Chinese Communists instituted various forms of market socialism combining co-operative and State ownership models with the free market exchange.[5] This is unlike the earlier theoretical market socialist proposal put forth by Oskar Lange in that it allows market forces, rather than central planners to guide production and exchange.[6] Anarcho-syndicalists, Luxemburgists (such as those in the Socialist Party USA) and some elements of the United States New Left favor decentralized collective ownership in the form of cooperatives or workers' councils.

Socialism, communism's beautiful cousin!

Can Joe the Plumber move his business to Ireland? I don't think so.

People keep talking about businesses moving out of the country while they're talking about these "small businesses" that are going to get hit with the proposed $250k tax increase. It's not those small businesses that are moving overseas- most small businesses are far too localized, and can't move across town, yet alone across the ocean.

If you want to keep businesses from "sending jobs overseas" you need to focus on an entirely different set of incentives, tax breaks, etc- the tax on "small businesses making $250k/year" isn't the one that should be being discussed in that regard.

1. Do you think he is a plant?

2. Is it fair for the corporate media to endear the public to a McCain supporter but not an Obama supporter?

3. Is Joe's appeal enough to carry the McCain campaign for 2 weeks or will they have to adopt another human interest story or go back to 100% bashing before the election is over?
I'll take #2 since I'm sick and tired of EVERY celebrity trying to endear the public to Obama. Even if I LIKED Obama I would be tired of it.

You know why this guy isn't a plant? Because he's me. He's my next door neighbor. He's my cousin who works 10 hours a day six days a week and is expecting her first child. He's everyone I know, only he's been able to speak to the country while the rest of us have to watch from the sidelines. He works for everything he has and wants to live the American Dream, just like I do, just like everyone else around me. And he's scared. He should be scared.

Meanwhile, the singers and the actors and the dancers and the writers and the directors continue to shove Obama down everyones' throats. I'm a BIG fan of Bruce Springsteen for example. I've seen him 100 times. I've never seen a better live show in my life. But he can shut the hell up about the election. Writing songs doesn't make him qualified to tell people what to do with their vote. Actors and actresses who play politicians in movies doesn't make them experts. And whatever happens, these people will land on their feet. Not everyone will be so lucky.

Finally, what about the actor or singer who likes McCain? Those people are out there, but with the exception of Hank Williams Jr., they're not talking. They know that if they don't fall in line and bow down to Obama they will be labeled racist and will be commiting career suicide.

And people are worried about a plumber...
