Now, why did McCain throw that in at the end of being asked if Sarah would be a good prez, after somehow equating that autistic parenthood somehow makes a great prez (please don't slam me for that remark, I'm just saying it isn't really related to the question he was asked). Shows his view that she can't stand on her own and his great judgement to have picked her for a running mate. duh.
Her child's not Autistic. He has Down Syndrome. There's a big difference in disorders there.
True. You'd think that if McCain was going to say something about the child (as he did in the last debate), he'd get it right. Does he really know Sarah Palin?

It was VERY obvious in Alaska that Sara can't function without Todd holding her up. He repeatedly attended governmental meetings where he had no business being...reportedly even SPOKE for Sara.
That's what McCain meant...we won't be just getting Sara, we'll be getting her handler, Todd, too.
Odd that McCain agrees that his partner is so weak she needs her husband as co-VP.....but I guess his low opinion of women in general has a lot to do with it.
My initial point was that he picked her, and he couldn't even think of a good reason that she would be suitable to be prez if anything happened to him. You would think that with all the reasonably competent and experienced women in the republican party, he could have found someone... better. Or, since he is so good at "reaching across the aisle", he could have asked Hilary - at least her husband has official political experience. now, that would be a maverick moment!
I haven't really paid much attention to the personal stuff. You mean the child is not autistic? Didn't he say the child was autistic? I had only heard "special needs" before the debate the other night.

I suspect that many people have gotten so used to McCain saying things that aren't true that his statements about the child being autistic were "close enough" to not be noticed. Of course, it's not really "close enough", but for McCain - at least in 2008 - it's pretty darn good.
