Please elaborate.

I was raised in a middle-income home. My parents could not afford Harvard, etc. I attended a state school, got a graduate degree, and passed the CPA exam for less than $15K. My lack of ivy-league education has not hindered me. I have done very, very well. My student loans were paid back in 5 years.

I have nephews who complain that they cannot afford college, yet have nicer cars than I ever did at that age, cell phones, and wear expensive clothes. I lived in a dorm for 3 years, ate the meal plan, and studied on the weekends. A concert was a big treat, as was the occasional beer. The same opportunities are available today. While I agree that for some there are barriers, nearly anybody can do it if they CHOOSE to make the sacrifice. Kids today want everything right now. That is their choice. I chose to graduate in four years. My choice.

Everyone in America does NOT have "the opportunity to earn a living wage." Are YOU serious?
Yes, the opportunity is there to take.

Quote:
Do you know what the minimum wage is in this country? NOBODY can live on this wage.
There is a reason why someone is on minimun wage.

Quote:
Used to be, Americans COULD live a decent life on the minimum wage, but not any more.
A lot of people are living with minimun wage, actually what do you think all of millions of ilegal mexican that are living with it?

Quote:
The Constitution DOES guarantee the pursuit of happiness.
Wrong. the constitution DOES NOT GUARANTEE IT. Only the pursuit, do you know the meaning of pursuit and HAVING IT.

Quote:
But that can't happen if the playing field isn't level.
Why isnt leveled??

Quote:
As for "ingenuity" and "determination"--what utter bunk. Works great if you're white and/or didn't grow up in a substandard neighborhood with a substandard school system.
Ignorance

Quote:
People who spout this crap are usually people who had certain advantages. People who are not making it are "sitting on their couch with their hands out." Many of them are working more than one job. How arrogant and condescending can you be?
I ask you, how did Obama did it? he was poor, from a poor family.

Quote:
And if you think Obama is a "marxist extraordinaire"--or even,
We dont think it he is.

Quote:

for that matter, a "marxist" ordinaire--you're seriously under-educated.
Really?

Quote:
He is, in fact, a fiscal conservative, and is considered by anyone who knows him to be a very moderate liberal--rather centrist, in fact.
OMG, do you know even what means to be a fiscal conservative?

Quote:
Warren Buffett--you know, that CAPITALIST "extraordinaire"?--thinks Obama's tax proposals don't go far enough, that he should actually tax the rich even more.
Opinion of one person vs 80% of all other CEOs.

Quote:
Of course, since you refer to him as "barry hussein osama," you no doubt think he's a "terrorist," too. Tsk, tsk. Just can't abide the THOUGHT of a black man in the White House, I guess.
U are the only one bringing this subject.

The American dream is worked for and earned. It's not a handout from a socialist parasite like Obama.
