Today, after just 7 months from its inception, Hawaii has announced they will drop and discontinue their universal health care plan. This is a plan similar to the one Obama's model is based on. The Hawaii plan was not cost affective and had so many issues, the state is/was unable to manage it with spiraling costs.

For the record, I do not like either candidates plan. But Obamas, is an empty promise as their is no way he can push this plan through. It would have been VERY tough in robust economic times, but impossible in these. It is just another empty campaign promise to win your votes.

Democrats, really, think about it! We are broke as a nation with those evil corporations going belly up by the hour. The same corporation you thought were going to pay for all this.

In countries that offer universal healthcare, they are taxed to death on anything and everything they see to pay for it. Taxed, taxed, taxed! Do you really want that here in America?

Remember, it is not FREE, we the people will pay for it! Corporations will NOT pay for your healthcare! They pass it on to YOU!

Is it that surprising that Linda Lingle, Republican Governor and McCain advocate, chose to cut health care benefits (rather than fix the problem) as her priority due to budget shortfalls? Same old same old from the GOP.

A lot of people who now favor Obama think they will get a lot for free, and don't realize that the price is paid by the consumer and that way they are paying for it and might not be happy with the outcome.....since it will be mandatory....

But they rather dream on and wake up later to reality when they will wake up from a ightmare...and don't say "nobody told you so"!

Republican Lingle: Hawaii governor says nation wouldn’t be safe under Obama

A Hawaii state official said that families were "dropping private coverage so their children would be eligible for the subsidized plan," according to the Associated Press (http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/10/17/hawaii.health.ap/index.html?section=cnn_latest - broken link).

According to the Hawaii Reporter (http://www.hawaiireporter.com/story.aspx?b1ee20be-98e8-4bb5-af6e-25f6fdc53117 - broken link), the state administration was concerned about the Keiki Care Plan's enrollment process because it didn't make sure that children were ineligible for Medicaid and its superior benefits.

"People who were already able to afford health care began to stop paying for it so they could get it for free ... I don't believe that was the intent of the program," Dr. Kenny Fink, the administrator for Med-QUEST at the Department of Human Services, said to the AP.
