THe accusation of the day by the McCain Campaign supporters is that the "only reason" Gen Powell is endorsing Obama is that they share a skin color. We have listened to the McCain campaign be called the "Straight Talk" expreess while lie after lie has emanated like so much exhaust. This is my honest opinion. Even if the only reason I could find to vote for Obama, was his skin color, after this week of hate speech from the McCain campaign against Americans that do not agree with them, I would take it.
Frankly, I find it hysterical and expected that an accusation against Powell like that would be made. IF Powell would side with anyone just based on his skin color then he is not very bright, so how did he get so far, hold the respect of so many Repubs in the past? I guess they were all wrong and Powell is an idiot??
I think this accusation against Powell is the Repubs way of trying to distract from the reality that McCain isn't up to the job, so says a man of power and intelligence like Powell.
It would still be a better reason than any I can think of to vote for McCain and his Forked Tongue Express.
I can't rep you anymore at the moment but wanted to say that I agree. It is a more compelling reason than any that I know of in favor of McCain.
And I'm excited about the prospect of the U.S. having a black president. I'm sure I would be less excited if it was someone with whom I shared no political views, but even so, this is something that I'm not sure the civil rights leaders of the '60s would have foreseen. I wish Malcolm could have been around for this, for one. I'm sure he wouldn't have agreed with all of Obama's proposed policies and views, either, but I'm sure he would've been thrilled to see where we are nonetheless.
