Anyone been to Chicago lately? I was there for a few days in May. Let me just say, Chicago is a real show place and is definitely one of the best cities in the country.
Divide, divide, divide. Us v. Them. Real America v. Faux America. Corrupt Chicago v. Rest of America(?). McCain never had a chance in Illinois, so ticking off some Chicago Repubs doesn't do much harm, but I can't imagine this stuff really plays well elsewhere either.
And you know Chicago is one of the most corrupt cities in the US based upon what?

I am a native Chicagoan who currently resides in a suburb 30 miles outside of Chicago. I do, however, still work in downtown Chicago.
The real deal: Chicago politicians are some of the most devious and corrupt politicians in America. While the democrats have been the majority in power since the 1950's, a former republican governor is currently serving jail time for corruption. The reality of the situation is that there is massive corruption on both sides of the political aisle.
That being said, in all fairness to Chicago, the same can be said about the politicians on both sides of the aisle in just about every other major city in America.
I'm not a fan of Richard Daley, who destroyed historic Midway airport a few years back in a display of power-mad authority, but Chicago remains one of the best cities in the country. I'd move there in a heartbeat.
This Us vs. Them crap has gotten really old to us Americans who refuse to buy into it.

Chicago politics has been corrupt for decades. Obama's candidacy is only bringing a new spotlight to it.
Try this article from 2006 titled Why is Chicago So Corrupt? - In the last three decades, at least 79 local elected officials have been convicted of a crime, including three governors, one mayor, and a whopping 27 aldermen.
