Why are the Dem. so jealous of Cindy McCain and Palin's clothes and why are they so interested how much is spent on them...did any of the Rep. ask the Dem. to pay for them? I guess not.

Isn't it great that shops are getting free advertisement for the great way these ladies are dressed and that they make money on what is spend on their clothes, isn't that what this country is all about...people look good and money is spend to look better....basic economics...not spreading other wealth, but spending it your self or by the business you belong too and that way others are making money in a fair way!!!

So why are Dem. so jealous that these people are helping businesses to sell more?

Saks Fifth Avenue and Niemen Marcus are a far cry from the types of stores the average American can afford to frequent.

So should they buy their campaign clothes at Walmart?

Furthermore, why support corporate America? Palin could have insisted that her clothing be purchased from a family owned business but she did not.

Saks and Neimans is a bit much. A lot much, actually.

How about Macys or freaking Ann Taylor?

It's just ironic that the people trying to paint themselves as the everyman (and woman), and trying to paint the Obamas as elitists, would shop at the most elite department stores in the world.

McCain is rockin some $500 Ferragamos too.

That would have been a great press release for them, GOP spends $1k on clothes at Macys and Ann Taylor. That's what a typical everywoman hockey mom would do, right?

Because there's no indication that Michelle Obama spent campaign funds on her clothes.

I don't care what anyone spends on their clothes with their own money. But when you're claiming to be fiscally responsible and blow $150,000 on clothes for one family in one month with money donors have sent you, or worse yet, taxpayer funds, it shows a fundamental lack of responsibility.

Plus, it's a mind-blowing amount. I acknowledge that I'm a tightwad, but I couldn't spend $150,000 on clothes if my life depended on it.

Well, we're not jealous as much as laughing hysterically that the Republicans choose to spend their campaign dollars on overpriced skirts instead of advertising.

The reason why this is an issue and Michelle isn't is because of the financial strength of Obama right now compared to the financial shorcomings of McCain. Obama is needing to spend over 5 million a day and McCain is short money and can't match him. Thus the issue for Republicans is the wisdom of this expenditure in a campaign that is now financially unable to compete. Money isn't in short supply for Team Obama, it is for Camp McCain.
