Growing up in a very liberal environment (note: liberal as in socialistic and pro-thought suppression), I believe that being a Dem is more about style than substance.
One of the shortest yet most valid responses I've heard all day. I was a chef for 6 years while I worked my way through school. I worked with 95% VERY freakin liberal people. You got it dead on right........"more style then substance." they can never argue facts, it is always emotionally based. It used to drive me nuts!
I think that a lot of people just like to complain for the sake of complaining. And it's become hip to basically hate George W. Bush. I'm not a big fan of his, I did not vote for him either time he ran, and I've had my share of criticism towards him over the years as well.
Being that said this election has opened up my eyes about a lot of things, and has changed a lot of my views for the better. I definitely think it's time for a change as 8 years is enough for any President, but I don't want change for the sake of change, I want the right kind of change. And of the two candidates I believe John McCain will bring the right kind of change.
I'm still not pleased with gas prices right now, and I'm not pleased with the state of the economy, but despite what liberals say I do not believe the blame falls 100% on Bush. And the same problems we are facing right now were just as likely if not more likely to happen had Al Gore been President, and it would not have been entirely his fault either.
It's just easier for people to put the blame entirely on one person, want to run him or her out of town, and replace them with someone who strikes them as being the complete opposite, and hoping for miracles. Bottom line is I agree with the OP, things are not as bad as many are making them out to be. Yes there are problems, but there are also solutions and I want someone with experience to turn things around, not someone who simply talks the talk. Any politician can talk the talk, John McCain & Sarah Palin have both walked the walked, and it was my pleasure as an American to vote for them.
Note that as of today, average price was $2.74, which is lower than during the first Reagan term. As a side note, gas is $2.49 in New Mexico at many stations.

Reason: lets not make it personal and incite a flame war please
Homeownership is at a record high, unemployment rates as of today are as low (or lower) than during most of the Clinton years, marginal tax rates are at a 65 year low, American standard of living in comparative terms is higher than ever, gas costs less than it did 25 years ago adjusted for inflation, there are more opportunities today for minorities than ever, defense spending as a percent of GDP is at an all-time low, just WTF you Demmies are so angry about? What do expect Obama to accomplish to make your life better?
These are all undisputable facts. Since you will focus on discounting the facts rather than a true debate, I'll start with this, and add as needed:
You sound just like McCain and Bush - "The fundamentals of the economy are sound".
If this China chart is so significant, then wouldn't gas prices also have risen rapidly during the Clinton Years ?
Where's your logic now ???
