Excuse me???? I am sorry but I am going to call you on this one. First of all, what century do you think we are living in here? I know of many people of color who were born with a silver spoon in their mouths. Just because you are black does not mean you were born poor and persecuted, that is absolutely ridiculous statement in 2008!
Look at those who are in a political position, anywhere. I will bet you any amount of money that the majority were born into wealth and those that weren't just as many of them are white, that are black.
I am so sick of people remembering history only when it is convenient for them. What about the American Indians, remember them, the ones we stole this country from in the first place??! They are still pushed onto reservations and the only way they can receive government special treatment is if they stay there. Do you hear them crying racism? No.

Again, I'm glad there are White people who are "over it" and I look forward to this country moving to a place where race truly isn't an issue.

I'm not voting for Obama mostly because of his positions on abortion and gun control, and I expect that he will appoint like minded liberals to the Supreme Court. Other than that, (and that he seems like a socialist) I like the guy. I came much closer to voting for Obama than I did Kerry. If Obama is elected, I will support him unless he turns out to be the "Trojan Horse" some people fear him to be. I don't see or hear that in him, however. The Mrs., yes, Mr. Obama, no. He will be President, not Michelle, so her views don't matter so much. My wife and I don't agree on everything either, but in the end I make my own decisions.

I think the racial thing is mostly this: we tend to like people that like us and dislike people that dislike us. I am white and get along fine with all races, but if I sense that someone has something against me for being white it's difficult to like them. I believe that Obama likes all races equally. He meets and assesses people one at a time as individuals, just as I do.

No, what is absolutely ridiculous is your argument. You must have been drinking right wing Kool Aid or something. Do you visit very many inner cities? Spent much time in inner city schools?

And your argument comparing Native Americans to blacks is really absurd. Do you realize that 8 of the 10 poorest counties in this country are found on Indian reservations? They could cry racism all day long if they wanted to, they earned that right.

White flight have left crumbling inner cities and housing projects and the only argument that can be made for whites is that Republicans have worked hard to level the playing field and remove the largely white middle class, thereby making us all poor. Waving your flag in my face is not going to change anything, and patriotism wont buy you a cup of coffee.

I think race is a factor in this election, but a far far greater percentage of black voters are letting it influence them than white voters. I see a white voter supporting Obama and I think, well, he has his views and race obviously doesn't matter to him. If he supports McCain I'd say 90% of the time race still isn't an issue. I see a black voter NOT supporting Obama and I think, wow, that guy has guts.
As a white person, I have to admit I'm disappointed with Obama and his relationship to reverend Wright. That creep is a David Duke wannabe and it just doesn't seem that Obama wants to bridge the races and bring them together like he could. He may pretend to and say he does, and others may claim he does, but I don't think so. I could give him the benefit of the doubt and say he was only using that church and the reverend for his own political gain, but that then that makes him an opportunist and a phony.
I'd vote for a black president, just not Obama. That doesn't make me racist, it makes me a voter with discretion.

Can I make a point to you?? The FACT is that 7 of the 9 members of the Supreme Court were appointed by REPUBLICANS!! And Roe vs Wade is the same now as it was when the Warren Court decided it. And it will always be the same because the Republicans do not give a hoot about Abortion. Yes they like to use it as bait for people like you in every election but the fact is that they are not going to put any effort into changing it either.
Secondly for gun control, Obama is not going to take your guns. While I too differ with him on the issue, he has said that the issue is a state and local issue and that is good nuff for me.

I know a lot more white people that are "over it" but it sounds like, from your words, that black people don't want to be "over it" or let it go.
