Default If Obama is a Socialist/Marxist.......

....how could he have as his advisers Warren Buffet, Paul Volcker (Federal Reserve Chair under Reagan, widely credited for saving the economy of the 80's), Bob Rubin (former Treasury Secretary), and Chris Buckley (son of the Godfather of the modern conservative movement, William F. Buckley)? Endorsing and shaping Obama's economic policies?

- Tom Brokaw, interviewing John McCain on Meet the Press, Oct. 26th, 2008

I just wrote something similar on another thread. I don't believe it is socialism or Marxism, but free enterprise and fair capitalism mixed with some of the finer points of socialism. I see no harm in taking positive aspects of any political philosophy if it means improving our failed capitalist one. Not everything is 100% bad except for closed mindedness.

Of course, he doesn't answer the question. He just goes off on nonsense. He's a fear-mongering liar. As is Palin.

I don't even understand all the paranoia and fear of the scary word "socialism" to begin with. Obama is not a socialist (by a true definition) but there are many aspect of socialism that work. Yes, they generally are taxed a lot, but they get a lot in return also. I certainly don't believe that the whole democracy is really working in our country either. We can't even get the whole vote by machine/paper/chad thing, whatever right. Funny how these buzzwords get so many uneducated people so angry when they don't even know why it makes them angry. I think that you can use the best of many kinds of political systems.

Well look at what nationalization has produced over history..

March of Democracy

On paper it may not produce these results but add the human ingenuity and you can see what nationalization ends up like. Our "democracy" as you say was the only thing that kept everyone in the world from Nazi or Communist.

Socialism is a direct threat to the American way of life and for all that our past military fought to preserve. I just finished watching the news and it seems that everyone, including Fox is ready to declare Obama the winner, funny I don't remember voting yet. Obama is now dictating what reporters and interviewers may ask of him in an interview, you will see the Fairness Doctrine pass as soon as he is sworn in and forget conservative talk radio and TV, with our Second Amendment rights soon to follow. I do not understand what is wrong with the American people, why are we giving up our constitutional rights. I agree that the selection for President is not good either way, but Obama is a Marxist and anyone that has done any research on the man knows that. I love my country and I hate to see our freedoms basically given away. I am 59 years old and I have said for the past 30 years I that there will be a revolution in this country in my lifetime and with Obama elected this is going to be a reality sooner than I thought. This has nothing to do with race it has to do with politics, - redistribution of wealth, national medical coverage for all, the government taking over banks and investment firms, the government deciding what I earn and who it goes to, etc., etc., etc. And with no other party in Washington DC in power, the Dems will be going hog wild with their social engineering crap that started the meltdown with Fannie and Freddie. What next a chicken in every pot? What is wrong with us?
