The "present" we are all looking forward to is the eviction of the most incompetent Administration in recent history - and the reversal of that Presidents mis-guided policies.
That alone, will make it "worth the price of admission".
Ken
Then how unfortunate it is for y'all that you're stuck with the same old congress with an approval rating lower than the uni-bomber. You may change the head but the body (which is pretty much in control btw) is still alive and well.
an Obama victory on November 4th is like being a kid on Christmas day
I agree!!! Wow, when this happens I am going to be so excited. I'm already planning on what stations I'll be watching on TV, and how my night will go once Obama (hopefully) wins. I feel like a giddy kid. LOL.

Your's is the same flawed logic I keep seeing here all the time.
You assume that because Congress' approval rating is so low that everyone disapproves of them for the same reason. This shows very poor reasoning skills on your part. THINK about it for a moment. The country is split roughly 50/50 between Democrats and Republicans - and yet Congress' approval rating is in the twenties or even the teens. Do you REALLY think that all those Democrats disapprove of their Democratic Congressman and Senators? If so, you are deluding yourself.
Republicans disapprove of Congress because Democrats have the majority there - but Democrats disapprove of Congress because the Republicans still have enough influence to prevent anything being done (record number of Filibusters the last two years).
These are two VERY DIFFERENT reasons and the Democrats out there won't rate Congress nearly so poorly once the Democrats cement their control there - which looks to be happening.

Exactly. Excellent analogy .
"Like a kid", yes. That sums it up. You're looking forward to all those presents, all those gifts, the promised land that is to come.
And then there's the letdown after Christmas Day, when the gifts have been opened and the bows and wrappings tossed away. And a bleak, cold, realistic January sets in.
So if Obama is elected, sure. November 5th will be a great day for you ... full of joy and excitement.
And then what? Always remember, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
It will not be over for right wingers. The move to delegitimize Obama and the Democratic controlled Congress has just begun.
1) The liberal media did it.
2) He's not eligible to be President here because he was born in Kenya.
3) We'd have won if it were not for the timing of financial crisis.
4) ACORN stole the election.
5) McCain ran a bad campaign.
6) McCain was not a "true conservative" who would have won.

Well, the reality is that Bush and Co have left the country an enormous mess. And I certainly don't believe everything is going to be rosy. Next year is going to be horrible, in fact. The damage has ALREADY been done - and it's massive. The fact is, America is going to crawl to Inauguration Day gasping and wheezing - totally spent and exhausted.
That is the legacy of "Junior".
But the fact is, we have to restart at some point, and just being DONE with that idiot's control is a great start - and I'll be elated.
I am tired of people acting like Obama or McCain being elected POTUS will cause the end of the world. I know it's popular to say that this is the most important election of our lifetime but is it really? No. Obama is not a Marxist and while he's pretty liberal, his stands on the issues aren't that different than Clinton's. My guess is that if she had won, most of the argument against her would be the same. My guess is also that if another Republican had been nominated, the agurment would be the same and the Dems would tie them to George Bush. These are cookie cutter arguments and while I have a preference in this election season, neither will cause the end of Western Civilization. Each will move towards the middle once in office. I can't wait until all of the hatred ends and people move on to their lives.
I completely agree with you on all of your points. It doesn't matter who wins, the country will still go on. Plus obviously, the President themselves cannot drastically make any change they feel like without the appropriate checks and balances. So, neither one will have absolute power. I just can't wait for it to be all over with either. After awhile, it just gets repetitive and old.

Why not? We're still hearing the whining about how the election was stolen from Gore right?

Yep, Yep it's all bush and company not anyone else, nope never anyone else, bush and company totally control what the government does right? No such thing as congress right? Franks and Dodd and Murtha don't exist and Pelosi is a fig newton of our collective imagination right?
News flash, they all have had a hand in where we are today...

And we passed that about a year ago...
