That's swell that you guys have trash pick up days. But so do hiker groups, local environmental groups, school groups, office groups, forest ranger teams, and non-profit groups. Except these groups don't abuse the land the other 363 days of the year.

how about the hiker who lets his fire get out of control and burns thousands of acres, killing thousands of animals and hundreds of homes?

well its not hikers, its their fires that destroy more fragile vegetation on public lands then an entire fleet of OHV's ever could.
Even your foot steps damage plant life. management and education is what is needed, not a ban.
