Any time I see the phrase "whack job" used in an editorial it causes me to immediately discount anything of actual substance the writer might actually have been attempting to get across.

This is why I empathize with Palin somewhat. I don't think she's ready to be a Vice Presidential candidate, much less Vice President. And I bet, deep down, she knows that. But McCain, for some reason, chose her. She could've said "no thanks," but that's got to be tough to do. She never should've been put in that position. I truly think she was selected to appeal to the Hillary supporters. No more, no less. If she were a man with equal qualifications, she never would've received a second look.
