When I really looked into Obama's background and how he has attacked (said hands down he was the most negative in his campaign as he was bragging), smearing, especially Palin in this election.
Obamas associations are enough to turn a patriot away from him.

I had both feet squarely on top of the fence until Obama picked Biden (who was my first choice for Pres), at which point one leg went over the left side while the other foot waited atop the fence to see who McCain would choose. When he chose Palin I immediately jumped off onto the Obama side of the fence! I am voting for Obama much less than voting AGAINST McPalin.

Had McCain chosen Romney, I'm sure both feet would have come back to resting atop the fence again until the stock market debacle this month; at that point I'd probably have jumped to the McCain side of the fence. However, things being what they are instead of what they could have been: McCain pushed me to the Dem side by choosing a VP that I simply cannot tolerate, especially with a clearly one-term President.

I think you are living in an alternate universe. Obama has not attacked Palin at all, the media has attacked her for being an idiot and refusing to do interviews. That's really not his fault as much as you would like to blame him for everything. He has attacked McCain only on policy while McCain and Palin have attacked Obama for EVERYTHING the guy has ever said or done.

Never mind it's not worth trying to explain...

I decided as soon as Senator Obama received the Democratic nomination, that I would not be voting Democrat.

I looked at each candidate's voting record regarding gun control. 'Nuff said.

My thoughts exactly, JLK! I think miborn needs to "step away" from Fox News and right wing radio for awhile, and allow his native intelligence to return!

I was a Hillary supporter, very supportive of the Clinton years. I never heard of Barack Obama, I wasn't impressed with him until a speech he gave... his first yes we can speech which was depicted in the Will I Am video. The way his speech made a flood of emotions pour forth, it was very unexpected. I felt something in myself that I've never felt before. He actually convinced me that I could, he made me feel motivated, excited about life and what I have to offer. He made me want to contribute and envision an undivided and fair America. I started listening to him at that point and how he made sense, and as I was still on the fence between the two, the more Hillary attacked this man who I completely saw as an agent of change and an empathetic, good natured motivational person, the more hostile I became toward her and her entire campaign.

I would say that is what most Obama supporters feel like and why they will defend him to no end! It's like trying to take down someone who offers hope. You want to fight for that person. You see everyone else taking shots at him as negative, while he is so positive...

I would have voted for him anyway but McCain's choice inspired me to donate time and money to Obama.

I am a woman and as much as I would have liked a woman to be running (Hillary) Palin is the wrong choice for a woman in the white house, her views along with what the choice says about McCain's judgement sealed it all for me.

Yes I feel the same way!

Note: Not really a Hilary fan! But I love Girl power!!!! Well intelligent ones!

I was a lifetime republican heading into the primaries and I watched every debate from both parties. I was impressed with Obama but skeptical due to his short time in the senate. I wasn't impressed with any of the republicans and briefly entertained Ron Paul until he said he wanted to get rid of the Dept. of Education.

When Hillary and Obama started competing against each other so strongly I started to pay more attention to the democrats. I was pretty amazed at how she was treating him and was very turned off by that. She seemed to be more interested in power than helping the country. He seemed to have a humbler approach. I then started getting nasty emails about him from some relatives and joined this forum. The level of hate thrown toward him really concerned me. So I started watching him closely and reading more about him. The more I read about him the more I liked him.

I think the final decision for me came when I watched him at Saddlebrook. He was very real and very humble about his faith. McCain in contrast seemed to be saying what people wanted to hear. I like that he has taken the high road in the face of some awful things said about his family. I liked most of his policies with the exception of his vote on FISA and abortion. I was very happy to read that he supports families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. McCain had zero information on his website at the time about that (he might now but I haven't checked).

So I basically started out as a republican very disillusioned with my party and disgusted by the use of lies and hate to put a good man down. Had they stuck to the issues I might have stayed with them but after 8 years of Bush even that's doubtful.
