Reality Check: The Cost Of Obama's Pledges, CBS Evening News: If Victorious, Barack Obama May Find Fewer Resources Than He Needs For His Campaign Promises - CBS News (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/10/29/eveningnews/realitycheck/main4557520.shtml - broken link)

Without question, the Barack Obama infomercial served as a very slick and powerful recitation of the biggest promises he's made as a presidential candidate. But the very bigness of his ideas is the problem: he seems blind to the concept his numbers don't add up.
Really? Is anybody surprised? Just like his tax-cuts for 95% of Americans don't add up. Slick is the relevant word.

Of course we can't analyze McCain's numbers, he hasn't given us any.....talk about leaving his supporters totally in the dark.

Both candidates have gone over the fact that they'll need to make some sacrifices on their wish lists once in office. The current economic crisis is bombing both of their agendas.

Hatchet vs. scalpel. Remember? They've gone over it a bunch.

Neither is going to have ANY extra money to play with. We'll be lucky to keep the potholes filled and the bridges safe.

Logical fallacy. Why don't you try to refute what has been shown about Obama's plans?

Thank God there are still some sane people around who actually understand that the "plans" candidates put out there aren't graven in stone. I'd bet money that less than 50% of any candidates "promises"come to fruition.

This is why I try to focus on character and past accomplishments.

Maybe because they disagree with said assesment?

What is it with these people who act as if they just finished a college logic course trying to enforce that on others?

This is INFORMAL discussion.

Meson tried to change the subject and didn't even attempt to make any case that the assessment was incorrect.

That and experts are saying it will be an asbolute miracle if he can make good on even 5% of his promises. 5% people! Think about it?!? And you know what? He knows it too. He is simply feeding people prmises of utopia, to get votes. None of his promises will come to pass. He is nothing more them a do-nothing, fast talking salesmen and stupid inner city poor people are buying it, hook-line and sinker. Very sad!
