Not a chance. He has a sleazy circle of racist America hating friends, but his family is firmly rooted in the fundamental principles of freedom and democracy.

No that would be in the Bush planned and faked the 9/11 attack. You might find some useful material next to the tinfoil at your local super market.

Hey, I didn't say he should talk with terrorists and such without pre conditions, he did. If he is willing to talk to Iran this way, it would seem he wants to handle it the same elsewhere.
|
Ah, I see. I know he said that. Where our lines got crossed is I was thinking more of sitting down with Bin Laden.
From a diplomacy standpoint, once all the usual channels have been gone through - Sec State meetings etc - sitting down without preconditions is the way to go. Punishing a country by not talking to them isn't punishment at all. Neither will demanding too much in the way of preconditions get you anywhere.
Prior to Bush we attempted and managed diplomacy with Iran. The idea of it is nothing new, neither is the implementation.
The Secretary's of State who have endorsed McCain also endorse speaking to Iran, with preparation of course, but there isn't anything sinister about sitting down and talking to the Iranians. We actually have encouraged the European Union to negotiate with Iran on its nuclear arsenal.

Churchill is not known as an appeaser.

We talked to worse people who were actually attacking us in the past.
I don't get what all this hand-wringing is about. It just smells like more illogical fear and an outdated mindset that says we get to make all the rules and that we are always right.
When did giving diplomacy a try first become shameful?
|
Yes we have. Diplomacy first became shameful about the time this country started letting fear rule us.

When the openly defy the rest of the UN's sanctions? This stuff is elementary. Talking to morons who wish other countries to be wiped off the face of the earth gives them legitimacy. You seriously think they deserve a chance at the table as they wish another holocaust?
We sat down with people like the USSR when we had military supremacy to destroy them. They also never said anything about genocide they just wished us all to become commies. All the other attempts to sit down with enemies ended up with US presidents being manhandled by Soviet Dictators. You know the Bay of Pigs. Carter signing the treaty as USSR planned the Afghanistan invasion. Signing the peace treaty with Hitler right before Crystal Night.

We are not the world police.
And we are actually no better than those you cite, after the past 8 years of terror we have visited on others.
And just because diplomacy doesn't work sometimes, doesn't mean you stop trying it.
Unless you have no honor.

What I expect really if Obama loses?
race riots or race war
if Obama wins
I expect a second American revolution within 1 - 2 years.
and yes , terrorists will surge into this country to cause as much havoc as they can if Obama is elected
they will still try if Mccain is elected but they will not have as easy a go of it .
