I accept that you believe gays should not be married.

I haven't insisted that you don't.

I don't accept your belief that the government should enforce your RELIGION's sense of who should or should not be permitted to marry, since marriage is a legal process, and existed both before and apart from Christianity.

I voted for Obama, and you should to because:

1) He had the foresight to know the Iraq war was wrong from day 1

2) He is for keeping pro-choice and protecting women's rights

3) He supports equal pay for women

4) He is hands down, a million times better for education and I am a teacher

Well said...i agree i love his education plans. he is really looking out for teachers and students at the same time. Also making sure that teachers are well trained so we don't have bad teachers that turn students away from learning

The draft should scare the heck out of all of us. That is one good reason not to vote for JM. His draft will include women and older members of both sexes.

Marriage is not always a religious event. People can get married at their City Hall or in Las Vegas.

I will try. I was undecided for a long time. Won't go into that. Eventually was impresssed with Hillary and also thought McCain might be a possible.

I am a centrist Republican and feel locked out of my party because of the extreme right wing base. So I tend to look for a moderate in either direction. Then turned against McCain because of his temperament and, frankly, I think he has poor impulse control. Palin was the final blow. So I was prepared not to vote.

These past few weeks I have come to the conclusion I will vote for Obama. He is not perfect on my issues nor am I certain a one-party rule is best, but I have decided to go with him. Here is why.

He is a calm, reasoned person who listens to others' views before deciding with his brain not his "gut". He has shown leadership and skill with the campaign he has put together. He has a superior mind and a superior education. Despite college being trashed on another thread, there is a difference between a mediocre student at a naval college and a superior student at Harvard. He has, I have become convinced, the knowledge, fortitude, educated precision mind, leadership skill, political acumen, vision, realism, idealism, and mental and emotional health to lead the ship of state in these uncertain times. John McCain and certainly his empty-headed pick for VP, do not.
