My husband just emailed this article to me. I thought I'd share it, since it's a pretty cool side story for anyone who supports Barack Obama, and especially for Obama supporters who are also fans of the show "The West Wing."

My husband and I absolutely love the show, and it was interesting to find out that Jimmy Smitts' character, Matt Santos, was modelled after Barack Obama soon after he first appeared on the national scene four years ago.

Quote:
For what those West Wing fans stunned by the similarity between the fictitious Matthew Santos and the real-life Barack Obama have not known is that the resemblance is no coincidence. When the West Wing scriptwriters first devised their fictitious presidential candidate in the late summer of 2004, they modelled him in part on a young Illinois politician - not yet even a US senator - by the name of Barack Obama.
...
The result is a bizarre case of art imitating life - only for life to imitate art back again.

On the whole, I rather be voting Santos, As I remember, he was a Congressman from Texas and a former Marine fighter pilot.

Well, I loved West Wing, too.

Just watch the wingnuts go all Love Story on this news, though.
