it is a far cry from a progressive tax , which we have had.
His comment was taken out of context. He was referring to taxing higher income Americans. Period. He was not talking about the government having central control of all facets of economic production.
Taxation IS a form of wealth redistribution. It takes money (taxes) from people and REDISTRIBUTES it (roads, military expenditures), etc.
