I heard on msnbc that they won't annouce the winner until all the polls closed. That won't be until what 11:00. Is all the stations doing that. This big thing that Obama is having tonight they aren't going to wait until 11:00 or later are they.

If Obama already has 270+ electoral votes, he wins regardless if all the polls are closed. I think the last poll in Alaska closes at midnight, but I assume if everything runs smoothly, they'll already know who the winner is. This hopefully won't be like the last election where we had to wait a month before knowing the winner. Or was that in 2000? I can't remember.

Do the math.. Obama can win PA and still lose the election. There are a lot of close states, and if the polls favor Dems by even 3-5% compared to actual votes, all those battleground states go to McCain. The chances aren't great, but McCain doesn't need PA to win the election. He needs FL, OH, VA, MO, NC, NV, and either CO or NH+1 vote of ME. If PA goes to McCain though.. that's huge. I don't think that'll happen - he's got a better chance to carry all swing states than win PA.

They're not going to call it until well after the polls close for this reason:
What if some swing states are very close, and they call it before the actual results are in - just like FL in 2000? Imagine the ratings hit a channel would take from people refusing to watch if their candidate got called to win, but then they lost?

Ah yeah, I believe I said "they're saying" not "I'm saying" so no I didn't do the math, pardon.
