What does it take to eliminate all of the problems with Ballots and Machines?
As a former student of design I am totally and thoroughly disgusted with the voting machine ballot mess in the 2008 Presidential Election! This is ridiculous and we need to get the Nation's top designers on this immediately!

Can't we all agree on something so simple? How difficult is it to have a uniform ballot, a redundant backup machine, and a tabulator? Personally I think you should get a copy like a receipt with a barcode so if there's ever a problem you can pull, get scanned, verify and go. Sheesh, we use barcodes on everything....someone could lean out a window and scan a barcode with infra-red technology....

We cannot even agree on the same ATM/Credit Card machine at the grocery store!

"Cancel, Slide, Pin, Yes, Red, Enter"

I called my mom early this morning and told her the same thing...we get receipts at ATMs, why can't we get one after voting? I would feel more secure.

This is another "head shaker" for me...America keeps talking about democratic elections needed around the world, and the last several elections our process has been a joke! Hope none of these countries adopts our technology.

Agreed. Pretty silly.
While their at it, maybe they can come up with a college football playoff that works too

If they came up with a universal voting system then the current way of cheating to win would have to be changed. It would be too difficult for both sides to do what they have to in order to get their person voted into office. It's amazing how these 3rd world countries that we have been "introducing" democracy to are better at voting than us.

It is unconstitutional for the federal government to mandate how each state will conduct elections.

Unfortunately, one of the major parties has figured out that it is to their benefit when fewer people vote and they do what they can to make it difficult or annoying.

It's just asinine....we teach multiple choice in THIRD GRADE!!! Kids watch their parents get receipts every time they shop.

Well, part of the problem is that we are not just electing a pres and VP. Here in CO we are electing a senator, seven represenatives, county commissioners, state reps and senators, judge and voting on a host of ballot issues, state and local.

I agree. Not making one uniform ballot is pretty stupid.
