Anyone else notice that about half his speech has been about black oppression (indirectly) or directly? He keeps referencing back to how far black America has come and telling stories about the down and out of the black people 100 years ago. This is great, but there is more to it then that. I found the topic rather narrow and suggestive.

I know most of you won't read this far before you attack this post. I'm fine with it, but are we seeing a small insight into his inner motivation? How much of this quest was about race? Proving he could make it to the top?

And no, this is not a bad thing, but an observation. Afterall it was HIS speech I heard.

I'm glad it was just not me. The inspring talk only referenced black American I suppose as being a black man himself it makes sense, but hello, 77% of America is still white?!? It sounded like he was giving a pep talk to the NAACP. Very strange indeed.

He had a long piece about McCain and praising him for his service to his country.

Well of course, I'm sure Rev. Wright wrote it!

Well, as a "white" gal from SC and about as pure a "white" gal as you can get around here (genetically), I thought his speech was awesome! No other word to describe it!

I did notice he made some references to black oppression, how could he not? It is in and of itself a HUGE deal. While I did not vote for him because of the color of his skin, it has to be absolutely surreal to the older generations of african-americans that lived through the travesty of the 50s, 60s, and even 70s.

I think it would have been disrespectful to not have mentioned how far this country has come regarding race. Whether we like it or not, the color of his skin is a big deal.

Glad he gave the back streets of Des Moines some credit in his speech, nice to be recognized. Later on in the speech, I noticed the camera captured a teary eyed Jessie Jackson. I could swear from the look on Jessie's face that he no longer wants to rip his balls off.
