I have always considered France an ally and a great country, the ones who considered the French idiots and a great source of ridicule are probably the ones declaring that the most powerful country on Earth only needs to be allied with 3 countries.

-I bet the French aren't regretting passing on dirtying their hands in the Iraq debacle now.

-Some of you might not have heard, but US-France relations have improved with the rise of Sarkozy. It's not 2003 anymore; you can put away the freedom fries now.

From a British friend of mine:

"Congrats guys ...... I have been glued to the BBC all night. Am so pleased for you all and for the rest of us out here in the rest of the world. We just saw history being made, how cool is that!"

A Norwegian friend who I was talking to in Yahoo messenger was moved to tears as Obama won

It's incredible. Positive energy for a change.

It just goes to show: the rest of the world looks to America for leadership. When we fail, we cause harm not just to ourselves but to others, as well. And when we succeed, we give hope not just to ourselves, but to the rest of the world, as well.

France is the most experienced at losing wars. They are also great at relying on others to bail them out. Oh yes They are also about the most rude arrogant people in europe. Yes I care very little what France thinks. I have been there enough times to know that no one could pay me to go back.

Yes, the perfection that was Bush and Cheney will be a tough act to follow.
The only way for America to go from where it is now is up.

The past doesn't matter. It's not 1945. We aren't the savior of the world.
