Wow...what an insightful remark. Thanks for sharing that.

Obama was elected because a generation wanted to make history. It had nothing to do with any mandate, the issues, or anything other than a few people wanted to say they helped make history. It will bite us in the end.

You are absolutely right - he will succeed if enough people stand behind him - and I am positive enough will... not the Obama haters on this forum - but they're an awfully insignificant group of obstructionists...

I think Obama will level with us and tell us what we're up against and exactly what it will take to overcome our problems - even if the medicine is painful. He won't candy-coat it...

He will ask everyone to sacrifice for the common good and to pull together...

I for one find that kind of attitude tremendously refreshing...

Much better than the pathetic advice Bush gave the country when asked how we could support the troops - he said 'Go Shopping'. What a twisted set of priorities that moron has... Can't wait until Jan 20th

It is our right as americans to disagree and express our dissent regardless of who is in office. That is NOT the same as being an "obstructionist".

Yes, he has a mandate for change, and while accomplishing that change, he needs to constantly remember that he is presiding over a very diverse and still very much politically divided America. May he find his way through this this treacherous minefield of ideas and opinions, special interests and the interests of the majority, with both grace and wisdom. May all of the people of the United States realize that big changes must come slowly and incrementally, to allow time for both market forces and those on the political fringes to adjust. I most sincerely believe that President Obama is the BEST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED to America, but he will have an uphill battle in the face of our economic crisis, our health care crisis, 2 wars, and our necessity of protecting the U.S. against terrorism. As citizens, and whether you supported Senator Obama or not, it is our duty to seek to help, rather than to seek to hurt our new administration! We have spoken, we have spoken for change, and to assure that the change we get is moving our country in the correct direction, we need to be ready to accept some things that we may not like, as well as assisting in securing the changes that we do like. Each individual has a "different" vision of their "ideal" America, we all need to compromise for an America that works for all of us!
