I sincerely hope he possess the skills to bring this country together. I don't know if he can do it or not, as we are VERY divided, but we all should at least give him a chance.

And I still say if Obama can pull off even 5% of what he has promised, it will be a miracle. He promised everyone, everything to win this deal, lets see how much of it he can deliver.
Thanks. I just gave you a rep! I hope everyone tries to work with our new president, and I hope that we all unite again. We have been divided too long.

No way could I join up with people like this. One asshat even told me to leave my state so he and his minions could turn the state "blue." This is insanity. And God help Obama if he disappoints them -- they could turn all of this angst and anger on him!

Don't judge by the loudmouths. Look to those that did not celebrate or gloat. Those are the people who really believe in America, and are more then willin' to include everybody in a discusion.

After the hate, fear and division filled campaign McCain ran and people on the right supported, it's tough being a gracious winner..It's so exciting to know that America wised up and chose a new direction in blowout fashion. They called it 11:00EST... Obama won Indiana, Colorodo, Virginia and maybe NC..He said he would do it and he did..Why start doubting him now?

So do I.

What I expect is the promised honesty. What I expect is the promised effort. What I expect is the promised openness/listening to those who are not in agreement with him.

What I expect is a start, and something that the American people can work on together from there.

A working economy would be nice, too!
This pretty much covers my level of expectation, so I will agree.

Therein lies the difference.................. Most conservatives come together support the winner regardless- can we say the same about the demoncrats?
Can anyone recall a simular message from a demoncrat after the Bush election.
I saw a post about supporting Obama as completely and thoroughly as Bush was supported by the left.........................

I honestly don't believe he'll do any of those things and as far as I know he has not mentioned touching the fairness doctrine. But I flipped on Fox news last night, several times, and I finally understand where some of you Reps get the idea that he might do those things. Not because he's said he ever would but because Fox discusses the possibility of such things happening as if they were going to happen tomorrow. It's a shame they aren't held more accountable on actual issues; I could care less which way they lean.

As far as hope, there is nothing wrong with having it. I think the American people need it right now. That hope does need to be washed with realism too though. He will not be able to fix everything or wave a magic wand. I don't believe many people feel that he can. It is a disconnect between the right and the left right now. Because the left has hope and faith the right then sees that as them being blindly faithful which is not necessarily the case.

We are a nation divided, that is undeniable. Yet I think both sides could use a little hope, a little faith and a little belief at the moment. We're going to need it in order to repair the damage done to this country. And to Obama's credit last night in his speech, he called on everyone to work toward those repairs. Not to sit back and wait for peace, love and happiness to float on a magic cloud to them but to work for it.

I did not write a post after the Bush elections--because I had not become addicted to blogs and forums yet--in fact I may not have known they existed.

However, anyone who knows me can tell you that even though I was disappointed, my bottom line was that the American people selected him, it was what the country wanted, and I had to do my best to get behind him as much as possible. (Although, I must also admit, I decided to redouble my efforts and work in campaigns to make a change.)

He is my President now (well jan1) and I will give him that respect but I do not live in the fantasy land that Obama supports do.

I do not believe he will do what he says other then giving hand outs to those that do not deserve it.
