He didn't.
Despite the doubt and fear, he was one of the most inspiring presidents who proved many wrong.
Had Kennedy not been assassinated, he wouldn't rate half a page in the history books. As in Obama's case, it was his speeches, not his actions.

Well, how bout Lincoln.

Pathetic, why can he just not be who he is?

Maybe you Obama supports don't really like who Obama is so you are trying to project someone better on him to justify your vote for him.

However, if he goes socialist, tries to change the constitution, pass bills called the "fairness doctrine" and so on, we might be back to square one!

I sincerely hope he possess the skills to bring this country together. I don't know if he can do it or not, as we are VERY divided, but we all should at least give him a chance.

And I still say if Obama can pull off even 5% of what he has promised, it will be a miracle. He promised everyone, everything to win this deal, lets see how much of it he can deliver.
Thank you, this is the only way it will work. We have had 8 years of a very divisive president, and it was one of the few things he really succeeded at. He's history in a few months and we are on a new page.

I supported Bush until I recognized that I couldn't believe a single thing he said, I would only hope that the same chance be given to President Obama.

He has tremendous challenges ahead of him including undoing 8 years of the Bush disaster.

A fair shake is all you offer, and that is fair enough. Thanks for acting like an American, and I'll even give you rep points on your reason you expressed here.

I'm an Obama-guy through and through, and it heartens me to hear you say what you said...that young man is gonna have his hands full, and he needs ALL of us to reach across the aisle and work with, not against each other...I salute you for standing by the courage of your convictions, and I stand beside you in saying ENOUGH!

Time out for all this mudslinging and and annoying 'nyah-nyah-nyah!'...the eloction is OVER---time for rolling up of sleeves and getting to work on 'turning the thing around' (I stole that one from Jimmy Johnson's old book on how he turned around the Dallas Cowboys LOL)

The problem is a few have nothing to contribute, so all they know is mudslinging.

However, anyone who knows me can tell you that even though I was disappointed, my bottom line was that the American people selected him, it was what the country wanted, and I had to do my best to get behind him as much as possible. (Although, I must also admit, I decided to redouble my efforts and work in campaigns to make a change.)
Well said. I am sure there are Democrats who support(ed) Pres Bush- though reading the posts here would lead one to suspect not............... I am also certain that Most Republicans will support their President whoever (s)he may be.

I got an email today to censure Michelle Bachman, but I do not feel it is appropriate because her own constituents had that opportunity and decided to keep her, so she is their choice. There is a great deal of buzz about how many Republicans Obama will pull into his administration, so hopefully, some fears will be allayed. Lots of good things are to come, a puppy in the Whitehouse, the wedding in Alaska, the realization that we are a better people for this day! Let's all rejoice as Americans in our ability to fight the good fight and then join back together.
Well done and reps to you!! Are you certain you're not a closet conservative?
I am constantly amazed at the vitriol from the left in most of the posts at cd......... a few more like yours and I might think we're turning a corner!

I am an American who actually thinks we are better for the battle of ideas. I am respectful of the majority and I am concerned for the minority. What a great and glorious country we live in, not because we are rich or powerful or diverse, but because we somehow find the self control to year after year govern ourselves in all our richness, power, and diversity.

It couldn't be no worse than Bush. You must have forgotten!!! WOW... How can you scrutinize someone who hasn't moved into the white house yet. Stop being so bitter...He won (The greatest President of the United States) and there is nothing you can do about it)!
