I cried. So did my husband. It was a very, very emotional moment for a lot of people.

Well, that wasn't it.

It was the realization that all the "you can be ANYTHING you want to be...as long as you're white and male" lip service had finally...finally morphed into "you can be anything you want to be," period.

This means a lot to a lot of people, and not just blacks. I'm white. I'm a woman. It meant so much to me that I can't even say.

It has nothing to do with anyone being anyone else's savior. It has to do with America growing up and really being everything it stands for.

You take her, I'll take her friend with the green shirt and glasses.. My question is, I thought Shanghai was in China......all but one of them look like Americans! If I didnt know any better I would say those pics were taken all the same place (probably here in the USA) and made to appear from other countries! Where is the proof those were taken where they say they were taken?

^^^So there could be no Western tourist, students, or workers in Sanghai? An international city of over 18 million people? I live in NYC, you mean to tell me that there isn't at least one foreigner working or is a student here?

Back on topic, I smiled a very big smile when they projected Obama the winner. I'm only in my early 20's, so all I know about the Civil Rights Movement is through school and people who remember that era. What a moment for American history. This truely says that anybody can be anything if they work for it.

I think everybody really cried because they finally realize that Bush is no longer going to be the president.

Gotta love the sour grapes on the thread. Give it a weak; you'll get over it. I did back in '04.

I did smile because no matter what it is a good time for us as a country to come togather.
