Dems sketch Obama staff, Cabinet - Mike Allen - Politico.com

Most of his staff will be Washington insiders. I don't see any controversial name here. Some Clinton's former staff are on the hire list. Republicans are being considered for some positions too. Arnold Schwarzenegger could be his Secretary of Energy.

Having the right people working for you is very important. It seems Obama will be aided by an experienced staff. What do you think of his staff choices?

Really?
I like bi-partisanship, but somehow that seems a bit odd.

I'm hoping there's a spot for Hilary also - or that he offers her a position, regardless of whether she takes it or not.

So do I. If he doesnt offer one to her that would be a slap in the face to her. I hope she runs again in 2012, and WINS!!!!

As a matter of political strategy, Obama would do well to appoint at least one republican to his cabinet to:

1) provide a tangible sign that his administration will be moderate;

2) prevent the republicans from reforming too much.

In other words, the democrats have to keep the republicans "in the game".

A democrat majority in the Senate somewhat shy of 60 would actually be helpful.

Figure it out.

Finally, if the experience of the Bush administration has taught us anything, it is that nepotism can have pernicious consequences. Hillary Clinton did not get past the primaries for a reason, and Mr Obama would do well to keep the Clintons, with all due respect, at a reasonable distance from the White House.

Hillary has her eyes on being a supreme court justice. If Obama was smart he'd make Rudy Guiliani attorney general, but I don't think Obama has any more brains than Clinton or Bush so expect another loser as AG.
I would hope Obama looks outside DC for his cabinet and staff, but I think he'll be led into making some bad choices and go with yes men and yes women, party liners.

If Obama gives a supreme court justice seat to Hillary, he'll prove how much of a politician he really is. Scratch my back, I'll give you a seat on the supreme court, even if your not qualified..
