FT.com / Comment / Opinion - A new generation transforms US politics

//
Exit polling indicates that Mr Obama won two-thirds of those voting under 30 years old against 32 per cent for John McCain. Compare that with a 54-45 margin for John Kerry in 2004 and a 48-46 margin for Al Gore in 2000.
...
But occasionally there is the election, like this one, that makes a resounding, lasting impact on the US political landscape. The Republican party, now an at all-time low in popularity, has lost a generation of voters.

Don't get carried away - it is not a specific generation - but a political philosophy that came close to destroying our economy and our freedoms - it's called Neo-Conservatism...

NeoCons can belong to any generation...

When you do blanket attacks against entire generations - you pretty much deflate your argument...

I'm proud to have come after this spoiled, preppy, idealistic teenage drug culture that is dominating generation Y. I am positively disgusted with the direction the media is taking our young and the things it deems acceptable.

Thank god for Proposition 8!!

I am proud the young are so smart and I admire their stand for equality.
This new generation gives me new hope for the future as they are replacing the idiots of our past, of bigotry, sexism, racism.
Our country is going into a new direction with a brighter future because of them.
And thank God those morons of the past, the fundies, bigots, racists are slowly dying off, figuratively and literally.
