I noticed when watching the rallies last night that McCain's rally seemed to be private and you had to have tickets to get in, while Obama's was open to the entire public. Why was that? I know McCain's was held at a smaller venue, but shouldn't he have held it at a larger venue like Obama did and allow the public to get in to see it? He could of held it at the Arizona Cardinals stadium.

He knew he was going to lose. He has known for weeks. It's easier to eat crow in front of hundreds than hundreds of thousands.
He also knew that he did not inspire people like Obama does (got I hate saying that). Better to look full with 500 than to look empty.

There were 70,000 tickets distributed for the event in Chicago, however, Mayor Daley encouraged people to show up with or without tickets, and they didn't turn anyone away.
Sen. McCain's event was held in a hotel with very limited space - even the press didn't all get in. I think Sen. McCain just ran a more traditional campaign.
