You obiously must be new to voting. These massive party shifts happen regularly every decade or so. In a few years we'll be back having this same conversation about throwing out all of the corrupt, Democrat crooks and their cronies. Nothing ever changes. Anyone who "believes" this time was different is deluded.

Yeah. All of those democrats are corrupt. Ted Stevens is a democrat.

Many people here are probably too young to recognize this. About every 8-12 years, there is a party shift, unless somebody does REAL bad like Jimmy Carter. Republicans will be back in 2012 and if not then, definitely 2016.

What the heck does Ted Stevens have to do with anything? You voting newbies are so naive. Everytime one of these massive power shifts occur, the incomg crew always pledges to "end corruption once and for all". Within a few years, they grow fat and drunk off their power and end up just as corrupt as the crooks they replaced, necessitating another voter "landslide". But nothing ever really changes, it's only the cycle starting all over again.

There really is no choice, the two parties are only two sides of the same coin. If you don't know that, I suggest you change your name from g-man430 to "Pollyanna".

Don't count your koo-koos before they're hatched.

I hope as much as anyone that the neo-cons are done. But we'll see. It remains to be seen how the GOP is going to regroup and refocus. I think they'll go back to classical conservatism and leave the neo-cons in the cold. But it's really too early to tell.

But don't count out the GOP. The Democratic Party now has no more excuses. They control the White House and Congress. Time to put up or shut up. If they don't make some real progress, they could lose huge in the next election cycle. American voters are not in a very forgiving mood right now.

The Republican party is a laughingstock to America. They have lost 2 big elections in 2 years. There are places in the nation that have no credible representation by the Republican party anymore [ie. East Coast]. Democrats continues to grow in size while the GOP continues to shrink. Good riddance to the radical right. Maybe Republicans will come to their senses & kick out the evangelical nuts.

And that growth in size is what will ultimately lead to their downfall. Once acquired, you have to make all sorts of deals with the devil to hang on to all that power.

It never fails.

Democrats and republicans will always be a part of this country. In 4 or 8 years the republicans will probably be back in control. It always shifts. It would be boring with one party.

Threads like this show that people have no clue what the neo means in front of a deceleration. Practically all of Obama's team is "neo"
