Obama asked him to be his Chief of Staff and Rahm is vacillating on the issue. He's embarrassing Obama by doing this!

He's got kids in school. He wants to keep some stability in his family.

Why didn't he think that through months ago? It's not like this appointment is a surprise.

The job is a major uprooting of the family, he also gets a pass on me and allowed to take a few days to think about it..

He also has strong ties to the Clintons and that might be muddying the waters.

And as far as the kids/stability issue goes, my sympathy is with him. We've moved several times with kids and are considering it yet again and it's occured to me to take a pass on a job paying almost double what I'm making now, just to avoid moving the kids yet again.

How is this embarrassing? The man is taking the time to make a life-changing decision that impacts not just him but also his family. This is how intelligent, thoughtful adults make decisions. He has said that he is very happy in his current position and all things being equal, he may be feeling of bit of 'been there, done that.'
Let's let the dust settle a bit before we start second-guessing everyone.

He's been to DC before. He knows what it encompases and the sacrifices and demands of the position. He now has to add kids, the oldest not even a teenager, into the mix. He is deeply rooted in Illinois politics. It's not an easy decision. Good grief.....stop making a big deal out of everything.

Emanuel is a close confidant and friend to Obama. He is entitled to the first right of refusal. Remember all of this is leaks anywant. There is nothing to it other then the process.
